Tired!



Yet again it is almost midnight and here I am still tapping keys. One of these days I will teach myself to get to bed early.




Well, I have to say that the Melvin Tix show was excellent. After the kids complained about going all morning cos it would be boring, the first thing they said at the end was "that was great" " heaps of fun".... Go figure! It is essentially a show teaching the children about the various sections of an orchestra. Each section plays a little of the style of their instrument and you hear all of the sizes of the instruments from that section also. Melvin then tells a story which includes the instruments coming in at varying stages to show how the music can help convey the story. He observes when the children are getting restless and then makes everyone stand up and teaches us how to conduct the orchestra. He explains how to make them play louder and softer, faster and slower etc. He then sits them down again and plays a variety of short tunes on various instruments himself to finish. It was fantastic! I highly recommend it.




I had two successful crops on both Friday and Saturday night and even managed to get a layout done myself on Saturday night. A colour challenge for Scrapwitch - my boys are about 18 months old and fell asleep on Dad one afternoon - very cute!



Today I have been busy making a couple more Christmas card examples for our "Crop for a cure" day with Heaven-Sent. These will go up in my DT gallery on 1st of November. I even managed a double page layout to prep for a layout class in November and Ingeborg's sketch challenge at Heaven-Sent.


I'm at the school tomorrow morning, Keelan's teacher asked me to teach the children and Indonesian children's song so have been preparing that tonight. Ethan has a school excursion with his class to AAMI stadium so he is very excited.

Gosh Christmas is creeping up fast

I'm not real good at this blogging stuff, am I? I have really neglected it lately. We spent a lovely ten days in Cairns in the beginning of November which I am sure you will see in the layouts that I will be creating over the coming months and indeed in the last couple of Cybercrops. We stayed at Holloways Beach which is approx 10kms north of Cairns city and the beach is not like our South Aussie beaches where we have the soft hard packed sand, it was grainy and moved a lot under foot. In Cairns itself you cannot swim at the beach as the city has a more swampy beachfront which is muddy and tacky with lots of crabs. At this time of the year also, the waters are full of stingers so it is dangerous to swim in the sea unless in an enclosed netted off area for protection. Holloways beach had a small area to do this and the boys liked it but the current was strong and wavy and no sooner would they stand up than wave would come and dump them under again. My Christmas cards with North Pole papers.....

Last Christmas season I bought the Kaisercraft North Pole 6.5" x 6.5" paper pad as I really loved the colours of the papers. Of course I really didn't get a chance to use them much  because I had already made my cards earlier in the year so have been putting them to use in recent weeks for my cards for this Christmas Season. Inspired by Pinterest above.    A sketch from Paper Wishes for World Card Making Day was used for above and below.  Above is another Paper Wishes sketch for World Card Making Day and below is OWH sketch #236. The last of the scraps.....

The last of the glossy magazine scraps with toppers and extra bits. These went to Combat Cards SA just before the close off of Christmas cards.   Stamps are from a Clear Impressions set with Creative Stamping magazine. Die-cut is from Stampin' Up.     These are based on some sketches but it has been a while and I can't remember which ones they were so I  won't be able to share that this time around.
