A whisper and sketch time....

Image
Lots more sketches I have played with from Heather's scrappy sketches site. You should go visit if you have time, she'd love some more visitors I am sure..... I am rather behind with them as she puts one up every Wednesday but I never get a layout a week done. When I think about it I probably do..... but I tend to scrap in batches and do three or four in a night at a crop, not necessarily make the effort for one a week.
MWS 13-12 with views from my Hotel in Amsterdam. My Fiskers circle templates got a workout with this one.
MWS 17-12 which the title says it all.

MWS 18-12, I turned the sketch 90degrees to work with my landscape photo.

MWS 22-12 a very lazy layout with one main patterned paper from Grace Taylor Vintage stack which I did a little fussy cutting on. A border strip from the same stack, a stamped butterfly, title and a few small flowers to finish it off.

And to finish was the layout for our Scrap Whisper at Home and Scrapped in May. It's like Chinese whispers but …

New challenges for the month of June

Image
I know it's late in the month to share my June challenges but I did actually do some scrapping for the month.

First up is Jewels challenge at Home and Scrapped, to scrap a layout with ten or more layers. I did lift a little of this layout as I am not a person who uses many layers so had to find some inspiration. Not sure who created the original layout I lifted as I cannot find it now. I used some really old papers and rub-ons on this along with my new spellbinders foliage die. This was my dinner one night in Amsterdam - not so healthy but oh so yummy......

Whilst the Home and Scrapped girls were on Retreat in Brisbane, those of us left behind at home were challenged by Jewels yet again to use a sketch she created herself. I used a pallette of colours from design seeds to give me some ideas for working with old, scrappy papers and getting them to match. They were colours I would not necessarily choose to put together for myself but was quite happy with the result.

I eventually got a chance to play

Image
After receiving my happy mail a month ago I finally found a little time to play with one of my new stamps. This is the Hero Arts Flower text  design block stamp and I love the fact that you get a great image without much stamping work. I stamped it several times sometimes embossing the image with black or white and sometimes just straight stamping with dye ink. I did however play with background and colouring techniques.

This was stamped and embossed on watercolour paper and coloured with watercolour pencils.  Because of the size of the stamp, rather than trim it down I made a card base larger than the regular size to suit the image.

This card was inspired by the colours that Darlene from Darlene's Design.com that I watch. I loved her use of the grey background with the black so I had some grey I didn't know what to do with and found that the white embossing worked beautifully on it. It was coloured with black and green markers and I found some red embroidery thread that w…
