Last set of cards from day 2...... and I still have 3 days of classes to go through.

I really enjoy the content of the Online Card classes, they are well worth the value and even though you may not have the same stamps or papers to use like you are provided with in traditional classes, you get all the techniques hints and tips and there are always items in your stash that you can use to re-create the ideas. This is my His & Hers example of Shari Carroll's cards which I have taken standing up and then laying down so you can see the effect of the cut piece with the background strip. I turned them into Birthday cards as I don't often do "hi" cards. Thanks for dropping by....... Happy Craftin'............

Just a quick share from day 2....

A quick and easy idea from Christina Kowalczyk for using vellum scraps. Results are very cute and distinctly His & Hers. This could make for that quick and easy 15minute card. Keelan wanted to help so he did all the colouring of my vellum and then used the Cricut with some advice for sizing to cut both the "happy" greetings for me.    Happy Craftin'........

May Cybercrop at Home and Scrapped

Image
Our April Cybercrop was postponed a little due to the DT being committed to family stuff...... Fancy that, family getting in the way of scrapping! So we had it in May with a theme of "Play & travel". This gave people a couple of options to play with when looking for photos to use.   I gave the ladies a list of quotes to choose from and that was all I asked, to use one of the quotes somewhere on the page. The members came up with some great pages too. This was my example page using Heather's MWS 05-13, I think it was - kids having fun at Taman Safari amusement park.   Heather treated us all to a Step-by-step challenge with lots of tearing, splatters, gesso, stamping and other playful stuff and a good layout for using up lots of those leftover scrappy bits of tags, ribbon, papers etc. I quite enjoyed it once everythin dried.  Karen wanted us to do a layout using her sketch and it had to include: Pretty background PP/CS Burlap or fabric strip 2 portrai

His & Hers lesson 2.....

Woo hoo, I finally got around to having time to make some cards for lesson number 2. Jennifer showed us a kaleidoscope technique with a large leaf stamp which of course I did not have so found a butterfly wing in one of the Stamps of Life sets that I used instead. I used the same Fiskars birthday stamp on both cards and because I didn't have a background stamp I computer printed the dictionary print over the top on the masculine card. At first I wasn't that keen on the masculine one but it is growing on me.   More cards using free magazine stamps, these two are based on the design in the magazine itself and I ended up making two, nearly the same  to use up the oval cut out piece. The Fiskars lacy doubles interchangeable border punch got put to work and some tags cut with the Cricut.  I decided to try the double stamp concept below which I have seen on several cards lately but I wasn't so happy with my result so will keep trying on that one.   I started off a

His & Hers.... still on lesson 1

Still on lesson one with the His and Hers cards, I tried a technique that Jennifer Maguire was showing us but had no leaf stamps or border stamps that would do the job. So, I came across this Heidi Grace stamp that I thought might work and did two different computer generated greetings to help highlight the difference. I'm not sure it worked the way I wanted it to though.   At Home and Scrapped in April, Karen challenged us to create a layout using the letter "b" with an advert for inspiration . I went for colours - blue, black and beige with butterflies, banners and bling.  Liz challenged us with a recipe challenge: to choose 1 technique and use all 3 Ingredients on your page. Techniques: Distressing Inking Tearing Stitching (this could be done by hand/machine or even faux stitching Ingredients: Lace/Ribbon or fabric 3 different pattern papers A circle or a doily I used all the ingredients along with stitching and inking and f

May challenge at Home and Scrapped

Image
Welcome to May, now that we are well and truly into the month. My DT challenge at Home and Scrapped this month is to use the colour pallette below to create a layout with theme of your choice. I would like a minimum of three colours used and only Black, white or Kraft to add to it if you need to.   My other criteria is to go to Heather's Scrappy Sketches and choose one of the sketches from 2013 as the inspiration base.      Here is my example using MWS05-13:     Sorry about the glare on the photo was trying to test a new photo taking area in the house and didn't realise until I uploaded it. Never mind, you get most of the picture.     A couple more Christmas cards using the free stamps from magazines over last Christmas. I decided to play along with the His & Hers Online card class by Jennifer Maguire and Kristina Werner. Here is my example of the His & Hers cards inspired by Kristina. Can you tell which is which?   Will share
