August Cybercrop at Home and Scrapped.....

Image
Another weekend of crafting for me, not that it is difficult to convince me to do..... I have been enjoying the Cyber crop over at Home and Scrapped . First up Joy challenged us to create a layout using rolled paper in some way. So here is was my efforts with that one.   Heather delighted us with a Step-by-step challenge to play along with and I completed the layout below, and yes they are my legs from way back when I was still a "Miss" Amy gave us a great colour challenge to play along with which suited the photos I had printed perfectly - couldn't have made a better choice Amy.... Then Heather of course had to drop in the old - make use of your scraps with cards, tags or embellishments so here are the three cards to go with the layouts. No rocket science required to know which goes with which layout.   Just one more to contemplate now which relates to a photo of me and telling a little about myself. That is a need to think about......

Christmas cards for Combat Cards WA....

Image
I have been busy the last month with Christmas cards which I started working on for my own stash then realised that Combat Cards would need them much earlier than I will, so moved on to a stash for them as well. I had some freebie papers, toppers and sentiments that I received recently with a "Make Christmas Cards" magazine and I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it but the papers and designs are nothing I would ever really buy and do for myself. I sat and cut out all the toppers and started with some of the designs in the magazine as these papers are very country patchworky or floral and pretty so nothing that I ever work with and I struggled to see the designs for myself, but once I got going I came up with several designs of my own. I still  have heaps of scraps to use and two ranges of papers to start on so will get a lot more still, just have to find the time to make extra.   To be honest there are a couple of designs

August challenges at Home and Scrapped.......

Image
Into August already...... where is the year going to?   The Home and Scrapped DT have provided us with another great range of challenges for the month and yee ha.... I have finished them all and it's not even the end of the month yet. Bec gave us a messy challenge to start with, this challenge is a texture and mixed media challenge. I would like to see your layouts with lots of texture whether it be - texture paste, - gesso - crackle medium, or - lace - muslin - feathers -stitching - beads -sequins I am sure you all have some of the above and if not get creative with your STASH. Paper can be crumpled, embossed and crimped. This is what I ended up with, a background created with texture paste and gesso then worked over with Faber Castell Gelatos, direct to page and mixed with my fingers. I wanted the effect to mimic the texture of the rocks in the cave. Some crumpld tissue paper, washi tape, corrugted cardboard, mesh, muslin and string all add to the texture. Real

Combat Cards WA crafting afternoon.....

Image
I was lucky enough to join in the Combat Cards WA crafting afternoon at Scrapbooks from the heart in Canning Vale on the second Sunday in July. I had found this link to some PDF templates for how to cut a 6" x 6" piece of paper to make some cards so did lots of cutting before hand and then played with putting them together on the afternoon. I started making Father's day cards but then realised it was too late for those so changed to a variety of greetings. I actually started with using a PDF guide to cut 12 - 6 x 6 pages to make cards but then had the wrong instructions with them so I couldn't work it out at my crop night. I came back home on the weekend and did another search to find that the PDF's I had printed were by a different person to the original post I read so once I found the actual post relating to the pieces I had cut then I played from there. I also added bits and pieces of plain scrap and die-cuts that went with the papers that I had in my stash

A new DT and new challenges in July

Image
July brought with it the new Design Team at Home and Srapped so I get to take a rest for a while and just join in the fun instead of creating the challenges. Joy's challenge was to create a layout using the colours PINK, GREEN and WHITE .   We could use neutral -black as well. I teamed this with a challenge for the Scrappers over at the Simple Savings forum where they put up a sketch to play with:   Bec challenged us to to tackle a Christmas layout. The layout and colours could be completely our choice. However it must have one of the following… Stars Baubles Snowflakes As a side line, if we had any scraps and were feeling in the mood then we could make a few Twinchies. Great for using on Christmas cards or future layouts.    Here are my twinchies.......   And here is my use of one of them on a Christmas card that I made for the "In & Out" Embroidery class that I took at My Creative Classroom.  This was a four day, self timed class run b

My results from the June Cyber Crop at Home and Scrapped

Karen challenged us at the June CC to create a monochromatic layout to include:- 6 or more layers - big, small, dog eared, grunged, pristine, inked....possibilities are endless 1 large photo - sepia, coloured, black & white a large embelly swag - if not flowers then trains, cogs or what ever tickles your fancy and the usual requirements - Title and Journaling tag      My layout ended up with 9 layers, cogs and stars embellishment grouping, a large photo with title and journaling tag. An old photo of the boys together in 2008.   Heather provided us with a Step-by-step challenge on the Saturday morning so I found this old dance photo of me and worked with the colour purple - the colour I hate the most because I grew up in a purple bedroom with purple carpet, purple bedspreads, purple curtains, lavendar sheets from time to time and it was just too much for my liking. Unfortunately for me it was my Sister's favourite colour so I just had to put up with it. I used
